Cool summer, colorful blooms: Visitors choose Huahua Scenic Town

With an average summer temperature of 22.3 C and flowers blooming throughout the season, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have attracted visitors from across China seeking a cool summer getaway. Huahua Scenic Town, a national 4A-level tourist attraction in Wudang district, is among the most popular destinations.

On Aug 6, the town was covered in colorful fields of butterfly flowers, creating a scene that felt like stepping into a painting. A tourist surnamed Dong from Henan province is staying at a local homestay for three months this summer. With a village resident card, he can also visit Huahua Town for free.

Yangchang town has also introduced a village resident card, allowing long-stay visitors to enter Huahua Scenic Town for free and enjoy discounts at local businesses.

Ou Chunlin, head of Wudang's Yangchang village, said the area has long attracted visitors with its flower fields but previously lacked homestays and restaurants, meaning few people stayed overnight. Since 2021, the town has further developed its rural tourism and long-stay vacation services.

Now, Huahua Scenic Town provides public tourism facilities, while local farmers have converted unused houses into homestays.

The scenic town now has more than 200 homestays with over 2,000 rooms. Since April, visitors from Hunan, Chongqing, and other places have made advance reservations by phone and WeChat. More than 2,000 visitors have arrived so far, with many planning to stay until September or even beyond the National Day holiday.
