As part of efforts to enrich the cultural lives of senior residents, the Longguang Road Subdistrict Elderly School invited Huang Qing, a professional dance instructor from the Wudang District Senior Citizens School, to offer weekly long-term dance classes to members of the Xingfu community dance team every Wednesday afternoon starting in early March.
Before the classes began, Huang developed a scientifically sound, well-structured teaching plan tailored to the physical conditions and learning pace of elderly participants, ensuring steady, gradual progress. Since the program started in March, team members have arrived early for every session, full of energy and neatly dressed.
During class, the instructor begins with basic posture training, body alignment, breathing coordination, and eye expression, then gradually moves on to ethnic dance combinations and full routine rehearsals. Every detail – from the height of hand movements and the size of each step to the rhythm of turns – is carefully explained and demonstrated.
Whenever participants struggle with movements or rhythm, Huang corrects their posture and guides them through repeated practice until they improve.
