Wudang turns dream life into reality

The "Dream Life in Pines" cultural-tourism integration project is currently under construction in Wanggang village, Wudang district, Guiyang city, and is expected to begin operations in August. Once completed, it will become a comprehensive agro-cultural-forestry-tourism complex integrating forest wellness, eco-tourism, under-forest cultivation, forest therapy, study tours, healthy dining, and forest sports.

The development will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will include an under-forest cultivation experience zone, an integrated agricultural planting area, a fruit and vegetable picking garden, a waterfront experience area, and a traditional Chinese culture-based wellness zone.

The second phase will focus on building a comprehensive cultural service center, a study tour center, and an intangible cultural heritage center.

"Construction began last November. At present, foundational and concealed works, along with part of the treehouse foundations, has been completed. The first phase is expected to be finished and put into trial operation in August," said He Lijuan, general manager of Guizhou Shanhe Shuiling Ecological Development Co, an investor and constructor of the project.

The project will be managed and operated by the company, while the village collective will coordinate the centralized transfer of villagers' forestland resources. Local residents will participate in under-forest cultivation, catering, and other services, creating a win-win situation that supports enterprise development, strengthens the collective economy, and increases farmers' incomes.

"The project was located in Wudang primarily because of its excellent natural ecology," He said. "With a forest coverage rate of 59.99 percent, high air quality, and abundant negative oxygen ions, it is an ideal place for forest-based wellness."

She added that from project approval to construction, relevant government departments in Wudang district have taken the initiative to provide support, helping resolve issues related to land-use procedures and planning permits, and securing provincial-level funding.

The project has also been included in the provincial demonstration program for treehouse construction under forest wellness bases.
