"Today, buyers from Guiyang, Bijie, Xingyi, and Tongren all came to the fields to purchase pears, and we sold 5,000 kilograms," said Tian Weishu, a local pear grower, on the afternoon of Oct 17. "The pears that our Xinbu village planted are large, crisp, sweet, and juicy. They are very popular in the market, not only sold across Guizhou province but also in provinces such as Yunnan and Guangdong."
In recent years, Xinbu village has been promoting autumn pear cultivation by offering guidance to leading growers. So far, more than 10 households have begun planting pears. The village has developed over 20 hectares of pear orchards, of which 13.3 hectares are already bearing fruit. The annual output value is expected to exceed 3 million yuan ($421,334), effectively increasing villagers' income through land transfers, on-site employment, and pear sales.
Moving forward, Xinbu village plans to further develop its high-quality fruit industry, make better use of scattered land resources, encourage the establishment of family farms, as well as explore new models such as "agriculture + tourism" to advance rural vitalization.
