A news conference for the agricultural industry of Wudang district in Guiyang on Aug 27 announced that in the first half of 2025, the district's agricultural added value reached 1.05 billion yuan ($147.6 million), up 5.4 percent. Meanwhile, rural residents' per capita disposable income rose to 15,400 yuan, an increase of 5.8 percent.
The two core indicators have achieved their best performance in recent years.
As one of Guiyang's main urban districts, Wudang has prioritized the development of modern, high-efficiency mountain-based urban agriculture.
To date, the district has established 83,000 mu (5,533 hectares) of high-standard farmland, with improved seed varieties covering more than 98 percent of major crops. The comprehensive mechanization rate for cultivation, planting, and harvesting has reached 56.83 percent.
Wudang has also cultivated 13 municipal-level agricultural demonstration villages and developed some signature agricultural brands, including Ali village's bayberry, Maotou village's grape, and Hongqi village's pepper.
