Summer in Wudang district, Guiyang, offers a refreshing escape from the urban hustle.
Jiang Manhua, a visitor from Changsha, has found her perfect routine at Jingxinlou, a homestay in Baozhai village, Wudang: a morning walk through the countryside, casual karaoke with friends, leisurely lunches followed by afternoon naps, games of mahjong, and evening strolls. "Life slows down here," Jiang said. "Every moment feels precious, and I've found a long-lost sense of peace."

Nearby, Delong Resort has also drawn tourists from across China with its tranquil setting. Owner Deng Yuju said rooms were fully booked months in advance. "People come not only to escape the heat but also to seek peace of mind," she noted. Guests like from Changsha say the resort’s scenery and thoughtful services make them feel at home.

With over 600 homestays now in operation, Wudang is rapidly emerging as a top destination for summer retreat tourism. Last year, the district welcomed 51,000 visitors and generated 38.56 million yuan ($5.38 million) in revenue. Wudang is building the "Sojourn in Wudang" brand by relying on its cool climate, lush forests, and rich cultural heritage.
