The event aimed to promote tai chi as a fitness practice, encourage healthy living, and enrich the cultural life of older adults. As the main venue in Guizhou province, Wudang district has hosted this event for several consecutive years.

Tai Chi has become widespread throughout urban and rural areas, serving as a cultural hallmark of the district. In 2020, Wudang was recognized as the "National Hometown of Senior Tai Chi". Today, the district is home to over 280 tai chi teams, with a total of 38,000 practitioners.
