Guiyang has released its 2024 list of model zero-waste cells, with 60 units recognized across government offices, communities, factories, hospitals, schools, and scenic areas. Among them, four are located in the city's Wudang district.
These exemplary sites are pioneers in Guiyang's push for a zero-waste city, highlighting best practices in waste reduction, resource utilization, and eco-friendly treatment.
Since being named a national pilot city for zero-waste development in 2022, Guiyang has advanced construction across five major sectors – industry, agriculture, construction, daily life, and culture – guided by a detailed plan covering 45 targets and 64 measures across four systems: institutions, technology, markets, and regulation. A total of 42 major projects were identified for implementation from 2022 to 2025.
Since the pilot program's launch in 2022, Guiyang has achieved remarkable environmental results by developing zero-waste cells. The city now boasts a 100 percent utilization rate for industrial solid waste, 100 percent coverage for household waste sorting, and 100 percent safe medical waste disposal.
A network of 635 zero-waste cells has been established across Guiyang, significantly boosting public participation and awareness.
