In 2024, the health and pharmaceutical industry in Wudang district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, surpassed 7 billion yuan ($963.20 million) in output value, accounting for a quarter of Guizhou's total.

In Wudang Economic Development Zone's Health and Pharmaceutical Industrial Park, figures outline the industry's leading role: Jianxing Pharmaceutical leads all health and pharmaceutical enterprises in Guizhou with an annual output value of 4.84 billion yuan; Xintian Pharmaceutical was the only Guizhou-based company on the "Top 50 Chinese Medicine R&D Companies of 2024" list; and the number of enterprises in the Sinopharm Western Medical Industrial Park has grown to 14, covering fields such as medical devices and biopharmaceuticals.

Wudang has established a full industry chain ecosystem encompassing R&D (research and development), manufacturing, packaging, and logistics, with 10 leading pharmaceutical enterprises forming a constellation that anchors Guizhou's health and pharmaceutical sector.

The deep integration of Wudang's industrial development strategies and policies is driving this industrial leap forward. Thanks to the zone pioneering the "Chain Leader + Chain Owner" mechanism, Jianxing Pharmaceutical established Southwest China's first 5G fully connected traditional Chinese medicine extraction line and attracted eight upstream and downstream enterprises.

The industrial policy service department's "Policy Radar" initiative secured 6.65 million yuan in funding for enterprises like Guizhou Warmen Pharmaceutical Co and Guizhou Chienyeh Pharmaceutical Packaging Co in 2024, with Chienyeh's intelligent production line securing 3.15 million yuan in ultra-long-term national bonds, boosting capacity by 40 percent.

The "Digital Empowerment" initiative has also facilitated digital transformation for 60 percent of large-scale pharmaceutical companies, while smart warehouses have increased logistics efficiency by 50 percent.
