Date with spring in Wudang's flower sea

More than 5,000 mu (333 hectares) of plum blossoms in Shangba village, Wudang district, have bloomed, covering the landscape in a sea of pristine white flowers that resemble a soft, snowy blanket draped over the hills. This has attracted numerous visitors to admire the spring scenery.

Shangba village has a long history of plum tree cultivation. In recent years, it has developed into large-scale planting, with the local government promoting the "flower-viewing economy", which boosts rural tourism and brings tangible benefits to villagers.

During the peak bloom season, the village's agritainment businesses thrive, and locally produced specialty goods become popular among tourists.

"In the past, we only focused on growing and selling plums. We never imagined that the blossoms would attract so many visitors. During the flower-viewing season, our agritainment business earns several times more than usual. Last year, at peak bloom, we had five or six tables of guests every day. We're looking forward to another great season this year!" said a local agritainment owner surnamed Liao.

To enhance the visitor experience, the village has continuously improved its infrastructure. Roads have been widened, parking lots have been added, and villagers have set up temporary snack stalls along the flower-viewing routes.

Meanwhile, town and village authorities have organized volunteer teams to manage traffic and provide services.

Beyond admiring the plum blossoms, visitors can immerse themselves in various rural experiences. Nearby villages offer vast fields of cole flowers, strawberry-picking farms, and agritainment venues, where visitors can indulge in the pleasures of countryside life and savor authentic local cuisine.
