With the rise in temperatures, cherries from Xiaba town of Wudang district, Guiyang, are ripe and ready to hit the market.

In the cherry orchard of Guba village in Xiaba town, villagers are busy harvesting the first batch of ripened cherries, sorting and packaging them, so that city residents can enjoy the freshest cherries at the earliest opportunity.

"I've been picking cherries since 6 am, and there are just too many customers who have ordered cherries today; I can hardly keep up!" said a local fruit grower, Sun Dejun, as he continued his work.

He mentioned that his cherries ripen in mid-April. Despite being affected by the weather, the quality is still very good, and he will continue picking cherries until the end of April. These days, large quantities of cherries from the village are hitting the market, and the village is about to enter its peak cherry harvesting period.

All eight of the villages in Xiaba town have planted over 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares) of cherries. With a price of 7.5-12.5 yuan ($1.04-1.73) per kilogram, these cherries are expected to bring more than 50 million yuan in annual income. Since the quality of the cherries is better this year, the income for fruit farmers will also increase.

Moving forward, Xiaba town will continue tapping into the potential development of the cherry industry by integrating new rural tourism routes and experiences.
