Guiyang Metro Line 3 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is set to open on Dec 16 at 14:00, according to a press conference held on Dec 14.

Construction on the metro line began in December 2018, and it has already completed a non-passenger trial operation of at least 90 days.

The metro line will serve as a major backbone route connecting the north and south of Guiyang. It starts from Tongmuling Station (Provincial Party School) in Huaxi district, and heads to Luowan Station in Wudang district, passing through Huaxi, Nanming, Yunyan and Wudang districts.

The line has a total length of 43.03 kilometers, with 29 stations, one vehicle depot and parking lot each, one control center, and three main substations. Two stations offer transfers to lines 1 and 2, respectively, and one station will offer transfers to metro line S1, which is set to open in 2024.

The line will operate from 6:20 to 23:00 and allow for a maximum operating speed of 100 kilometers per hour, compared to 80 kilometers per hour for lines 1 and 2.

The new line brings Guiyang's total metro network length to approximately 118 kilometers.
