Wudang deepens reform for high-quality growth

Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province has comprehensively deepened reforms as part of its efforts to improve the efficiency of governance and the quality of development, while addressing the problems it faces in the pursuit of high-quality growth, local media reported.

In order to further stimulate market entities, Wudang vigorously promoted cutting taxes and fees in 2022, and it completed a total value-added tax refund of 240 million yuan ($35.7 million) and a cumulative reduction of 295 million yuan in various taxes and fees.

While promoting opening-up, the district introduced 93 new projects in 2022 and signed agreements for 14 significant investment projects with a total investment of 13.05 billion yuan. The district's total foreign trade import and export volume is expected to reach $42.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.

It made consistent efforts to streamline administration, delegate power and upgrade government services to improve the business environment. In 2022, a total of 6617 new market entities opened their business with a registered capital of 6.74 billion yuan.

In 2022, the district also stepped up its scientific and technological innovation, promoted technological achievements and made all-out efforts to promote educational progress.

In improving people's well-being, the district gave priority to promoting employment and increasing people's incomes.

A total of 6,007 new jobs were created in urban areas and the registered unemployment rate in those areas fell below 5 percent. The per-capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 42,582 yuan and 24,099 yuan respectively, an increase of 8 percent year on year.
