Updated: 2023-01-11

Over the past year, Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made great efforts to stabilize the economy and promote the district's high-quality development, local media reported.

By adhering to the philosophy of "lush mountains and lucid waters are invaluable assets", Wudang district vigorously developed its "under-forest economy" in 2022 and accelerated the construction of forest tending projects. These projects brought an output value of 1.78 billion yuan ($264.7 million) and created jobs for more than 7,000 people.

While boosting the development of the health industry, the district, along with Sinopharm’s Western Medical Industrial Park, accelerated the construction of the Guizhou headquarters base for Chinese medical devices, and the production base for medical devices and medicines. The initial structure of a health industry cluster that integrates research and development, manufacturing, packaging and logistics has begun to take shape.

Wudang also stepped up the development of industries such as electronic information and food processing. In 2022, the district achieved an industrial added value of almost 4.99 billion yuan, up 4.8 percent year on year, and an industrial investment of 2.8 billion yuan, up 79.5 percent year on year.

In terms of rural vitalization, Wudang made efforts to promote the high-quality and efficient development of the agriculture industry. This has led to environmental improvements, a thriving business space, and higher income for farmers.

The district also vigorously developed modern service industries, such as building economy and headquarters economy, worked to build a high-quality central business district, and constantly improved its competitiveness and comprehensive strength.
