The construction of a garbage collection and transportation system has been accelerated in Wudang district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to effectively improve the rural living environment.

In 2022, Wudang has invested 1.65 million yuan ($250,000) in the construction of a garbage collection and transportation system and the development of demonstration villages in its jurisdiction. It has also replaced missing and damaged collection containers and transfer vehicles, to make up for the shortcomings of the township collection and transport facilities.

This year, Wudang has added 58 new village-level garbage collection points and seven new town-level collection points.

Meanwhile, the garbage collection and transport coverage of administrative villages and natural villages with more than 30 households in the district has been increased to 100 percent.

Additionally, officials from the Wudang District Comprehensive Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau have conducted trips to the countryside no less than 3 times a week.

This provides much-needed technical guidance and training for township staff on domestic waste management.

Wudang has continued to publicize garbage classifications to increase villagers' knowledge – and to boost their awareness of their responsibilities, to protect the environment and help keep it clean.
