The Wudang district of Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- on May 7 granted a nameplate to the Guiqian International General Hospital, which has been designated as an employment training center for college graduates.

The hospital site covers an area of 300 mu (20 hectares). It currently has 1,400 beds and nearly 30 clinical disciplines, including cardiovascular medicine, respiratory medicine and abdominal surgery.

Plans are for a new ward to open in 2022, which will have 2,000 beds and 150 trainees.

According to hospital president Zhang Shaoxiang, it has provided training opportunities for 266 college graduates since 2020, with 147 receiving job offers during the period. Currently, the hospital has 27 trainees.

The trainee program at Guiqian International General Hospital is understood to be an initiative of Wudang to boost local college graduate employment and entrepreneurship.

"Employment apprenticeship is an effective measure for cities to retain talent, especially to reserve high-quality young talent," said one of the managers of the Wudang human resources bureau.

The bureau has prioritized the establishment of apprenticeship centers and is also innovating its working methods, while boosting its guidance and services at the centers.

To date, Wudang has a total of 10 trainee centers at the municipal level and 12 centers at the district level.
