The efforts made by the government of Wudang district – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – on improving its people's lives have reportedly delivered sterling results.
Over a five-year plan period, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in Wudang increased from 28,700 yuan ($4,306) and 14,200 yuan in 2016 to 39,400 yuan and 20,300 yuan in 2020 – with an average annual increase of 8.24 percent and 9.34 percent, respectively.

Some 1,370 registered households were reportedly lifted out of poverty and the target of achieving safe drinking water continued to be consolidated.
Meanwhile, Wudang built 17 new schools in total from 2016 to 2020, adding 8,730 student places.
In terms of medical services, Wudang constructed four new hospitals during the period, which can provide 3,500 new beds.
The standardized construction of health centers in all Wudang's townships and towns was finished.

Moreover, Shuitian town in Wudang district was granted the honorary title of "National Health Town".
In addition, Wudang established an efficient prevention and control mechanism for the COVID-19 epidemic. Since the outbreak of the virus, Wudang had reported no related cases.
Furthermore, a social security system covering urban and rural residents was established in Wudang, while a guarantee services system for retired soldiers continued to be improved.
