Construction on the whole Wudang-Changshun Expressway officially started on Dec 5.

The 115-kilometer expressway connects Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to Changshun county in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou.

It will connect the Guiyang-Weng'an Expressway and the Duyun-Anshun Expressway, and intersects with the Guiyang-Zunyi Expressway and Huaxi-Anshun Expressway.

The new expressway will have six lanes and a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour, and the total investment will amount to 20.5 billion yuan ($3.08 billion).

The expressway is a key part of the southwest land transportation hub built by Guizhou province.

According to Sun Xilai, chief engineer of Guizhou Qianzhong Expressway Company, when the entire Wudang-Changshun Expressway is completed and opens to traffic in 2024, people along the line will be able to get on the expressway within half an hour and arrive at neighboring airports within one hour, enhancing the province's transportation capacity.
