Wudang to become a demonstration area for high-quality development

In Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, Wudang district continues to seek high-quality development, giving priority to rural revitalization, big data development and ecological development. It is also promoting new industrialization, new urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization, according to local media reports.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the district will accelerate its promotion of new industrialization and become a highland for the health industry.

In March of this year, Wudang and Zhongnan Group inked a deal to build a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and medical equipment industrial park, with an investment of 50 billion yuan ($7.71 billion). This will accelerate the development of the district's modern health and medicine sector.

Wudang will rely on the new industrial park to accelerate new industrialization, with TCM and medical equipment manufacturing taking the leading role. It will also focus on the expansion of the healthcare, modern pharmaceutical logistics and specialty health food industries.

The district will push new urbanization and seek coordinated development between urban and rural areas. Within the next five years, the district aims to double its population size to 500,000 and double its built-up urban area to 45 square kilometers.

It will also deepen the construction of a "garden city", build characteristic towns and beautify the countryside.

In terms of pushing agricultural modernization and promoting rural revitalization, Wudang district will consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation, strengthen rural land governance and improve the living environment, among others.

The district will also accelerate tourism industrialization and become a demonstration area for "all-for-one" tourism. The 12th Guiyang Tourism Industry Development Conference will be held in Wudang this September, which will promote high-quality development of the district's tourism sector.
