Wudang boosts high-quality industrialization

Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is promoting high-quality industrialization, boosting the health sector and advancing green development to seek all-round development in 2021, which is the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

The district is leading the province's development of the health sector and is achieving new breakthroughs in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology and the digital industry.

Guiyang Xintian Pharmaceutical Co Ltd in the district is a modern traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmaceutical company integrating new drug research and development, and drug production and sales. It is a national-level high-tech enterprise.

The company has attached great importance to R&D since its establishment. It regards R&D capabilities as a significant part of its core competitiveness and one of the most critical factors for achieving sustainable development, according to a company official.

With annual R&D funds in Chinese patent medicine averaging more than 20 million yuan ($3.05 million), the company currently has 36 invention patents and six design patents, said the official.

Guizhou Lizhijian Biotechnology Co Ltd was established in 2017. It is the first vitro diagnostic innovation enterprise in Guizhou.

The company boasts 10 kinds of independent intellectual property instruments and 35 kinds of reagents and is committed to realizing timely biodiversity diagnosis based on wireless sensing.

The company now boasts 13 independently developed products, with a daily output value of up to 200,000 yuan, according to the company's chairman Zhang Yuanbo.

Zhang said that since its establishment, the company has been working on automation, intelligence and humanization, and it has invested a considerable amount of funding and human resources in R&D.

Over the past five years, Wudang has basically established a health-medicine manufacturing cluster represented by Xintian Pharmaceutical and Jianxing Pharmaceutical, among others. The output value of health-medicine manufacturing was 6.84 billion yuan and the added value was 2.54 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.2 percent.

In the next five years, the district will continue to boost the development of the health sector and the digital industry.
