Wudang continues promoting green development

Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been promoting ecological civilization construction in recent years, according to local media reports.

It is among the nation's first batch of innovation bases for implementing the "Two Mountains Theory," which can be summarized as "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."

The district is now focusing on rural revitalization, big data and ecological growth to accelerate its green development and construction of a "garden city".

Relying on ecological resources, the district integrates the development of ecological civilization and tourism, healthcare and sports.

The district has put 27 parks and sports bases into use and is building a demonstration area for the integrated development of health and leisure tourism and agricultural sightseeing.

Wudang has achieved green development achievements by committing to the Two Mountains Theory. The forest coverage rate has increased from 49.93 percent to 59.48 percent, ranking first in the city, and the district has been labeled as a demonstration area for "all-for-one" tourism.

The district also established a Two Mountains Theory ecological environment smart cloud platform, explored digital supervision of ecological resources and introduced a third-party supervision platform to supervise and inspect ecological pollution in the district.

Under a series of environmental governance measures, the good air quality rate in Wudang has reached 96.5 percent, the urban sewage treatment facilities have achieved full coverage, the rate of low-impact urban domestic garbage treatment has reached more than 98 percent and the utilization rate of industrial solid waste disposal has reached 100 percent.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Wudang district will further improve its modern environmental protection and governance system, severely combat illegal and criminal activities that damage the environment, advocate green lifestyles and encourage green consumption, raise public awareness of environmental protection and give priority to green development.
