Wudang district takes steps to revitalize rural areas

Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest Chinas Guizhou province, will create 8,200 mu (546.67 hectares) of high-standard farmland this year, according to local authorities.

Authorities in the district will focus on promoting agricultural modernization by developing characteristic and efficient agriculture, promoting high-quality and high-efficiency agriculture, increasing livability, and helping farmers to increase their incomes.

To achieve these goals, Wudang district will develop an "agriculture +" model that involves ecological agriculture, smart agriculture and characteristic agriculture. It will promote the development of high-quality fruits and vegetables, personalized tea, wild medicinal materials and flower branding.

It will strive to improve the intelligence level of industrialized and modern agriculture.

The district will also stick to a strict farmland protection system, increase grain reserves and enhance its ability to guarantee the supply of grain and important agricultural and sideline products.

Wudang will also develop a modern service sector that is suitable for rural development, such as the leisure and healthcare sectors. The district will promote the in-depth integration of agriculture, culture, business and tourism to enrich the rural economy, increase farmers' incomes, cultivate new momentum for rural development and help rural revitalization.
