Updated: 2021-01-13

According to local authorities, Wudang district in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, currently boasts a forest coverage rate of 59.48 percent.

Over the past year, the district promoted ecological development and prioritized the protection of its forest resources.

It closed down the Gaoyan landfill and achieved practical results in ecological protection and river water treatment. The district also set up comprehensive soil monitoring stations.

Wudang worked hard to promote pollution prevention and control in rural areas, implementing environmental improvement measures in 24 villages in six towns and townships. The district also completed rural domestic sewage treatment planning and filing for 62 administrative villages.

Local law enforcement also increased inspections of significant pollution sources, including industrial clusters, livestock and poultry breeding facilities, small and scattered enterprises and construction projects, and severely cracked down on environmental violations and crimes.
