Recently, 200 hectares of plum blossoms come into glorious bloom in Shangba village in the Wudang district of Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China’s Guizhou province, according to local officials.

They said the entire village is carpeted in white blossoms, along with the yellow rape flowers scattered under the plum trees.

Locals said the beautiful scene turns the village into a wonderland.

Local officials said that Shangba village has planted plenty of fruit trees and crops while adjusting the structure of its rural economy in recent years.

Plum planting has become a leading industry in Shangba village, providing a unique production base for Wudang district.

To expand the scope of the industry, Shangba village has established a professional planting cooperative to improve the management of plum planting, sales and operations.

The cooperative has attracted the participation of 19 poverty-stricken households and helps each one obtain extra annual income of nearly 10,000 yuan ($1,410).

Each year’s plum flowering season starts in March and the harvest season in July attracts many tourists to come and admire the blossoms and pick fruit.

Officials said this year’s blossom season is seeing a decline in tourists due to the novel coronavirus virus outbreak. But July holds the promise of the plum harvest.
