Workers at the Xintao reservoir project in Xintao village of Wudang district – in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province –  are preparing for the full resumption of construction, according to local officials.

The new reservoir, with a total investment of 73.84 million yuan ($10.6 million), is one of the projects in Guiyang for comprehensive development of water resources, as well as soil and water conservation. It mainly solves the water irrigation use of 207.8 hectares of cultivated land, supplying water to 3,525 people and 1,704 livestock.

Workers are being organized to return to work in batches. On Feb 23, the construction site saw the group back at work.

To make up for construction hit by the novel coronavirus outbreak, workers are being asked to work extra time to make up for previous delays, after the full resumption of work at the end of this month, according to Guiyang Water Conservancy Industry Development Co.

The construction site has taken measures to ensure both the progress of construction and the epidemic prevention and control of workers.

It has set up a double-layer isolation protection paddock for the construction site and outsiders are prohibited from entering.

It is also carrying out strict epidemic screening of construction workers. Before returning to work, workers are required to report their physical examination results and health conditions over the past 15 days, as well as their contact history with people from severely-hit epidemic areas.

Upon returning to the work site, staff are required to undergo physical tests, disinfect all their belongings and observe a 14-day quarantine observation period before restarting work.

Employees at work, are required to have body temperature checks three times a day and wear masks at work.

In addition, the construction site is also organizing for workers to dine at different intervals to reduce staff member gatherings.
