Yang Hongshun, a Guizhou-born new-generation painter, recently opened his exhibition at the Songxi Gallery in Xinguangli Culture and Creation Park, Wudang district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Born in 1982 in Kaili, Guizhou, Yang graduated from Guizhou Minzu University in 2004 and then went to continue studying painting in a couple of world-renowned art schools, including the Accademia di belle arti di Roma and the École Supérieure Libre d'art de Paris.
Although he has mastered European classical oil painting techniques, Yang takes the Miao ethnic culture as the background for most of his works, especially highlighting the beauty of Miao women.
During the exhibition, he displayed many elegant works themed on Miao women that also adopt the symbolic icons of the Miao ethnic culture, such as silver accessories, embroideries, and strong wines. Art experts and interested attendees carefully viewed the works and discussed them intently at the exhibition.
