Ecological economy empowers Luozhuang village

Luozhuang village in Guiyang's Wudang district has seen the rosier development of its forestry industry, thanks to the village's creative business-running model, which began to take effect in 2018.

Covered with patches of dendrobium officinale, roxburgh anoectochilus terminal buds, and sealworts, the dendrobium officinale base in Luozhuang is now full of vigor, transforming from a barren place into a poplar one that is generating economic benefits for local farmers. 

The base was launched by the Guizhou Luyuyinghui Ecological Planting Co Ltd. By relying on the rich forest resources near Panlongshan Forest Park, the company creatively decided to expand the business on three models, namely "company + base + farmhouse," "company + farmhouse," and joint operation models.

During its development, the upper area of the forest was designated for planting dendrobium officinale, the middle area was for leisure and forest tourism, while the down area was for roxburgh anoectochilus terminal buds and sealworts, whose short growth periods enable local farmers to gain economic benefits quickly. 

Since the base was launched, farmers who work with the base have received considerable income. In 2018, a total of 357 impoverished people received more than four million yuan ($570,817), equivalent to more than 11,000 yuan each.
